The recent California wildfires continue to capture headlines as they spread destruction to an increasing number of communities.
If you live in the affected areas and your apartment has been badly damaged, the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs want you to know that you can move out immediately without having to give notice to your landlord. Plus, you have the right to get your security deposit and last month's rent returned within three weeks after you leave.
If you need more information, call the Department at 1-800-593-8222. Also, here's a helpful resource on protecting yourself and your property from wildfires, courtesy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
