Last night, a man was shot in the leg as he allegedly tried to break into an apartment in Martinsburg, West Virginia. As the police soon discovered, this was no ordinary burglary, according to The Charleston Gazette. It was actually a rent dispute between the apartment's tenant and his landlord that quickly got physical -- and almost deadly.

Fortunately, this story isn't most tenants' experience. That said, arguments over the rent are all too common between landlords and tenants, especially when the amount is more than a tenant can afford.

If you're looking to rent an apartment or renew your lease soon, you may be able to get a better, more affordable deal than what the landlord is asking.

Thanks for the posting.
When I first started as a landlord it was back in the early 1990’s and times were tough. I had a few tenants lose jobs. They were scared, so I did the best I could to lower the rent if I had to and then take weekly payments because thats how their unemployment came. I saved the tenants and my mortgage payments!
