Many apartment hunters who own or plan to buy a pet are happy enough to find buildings that allow them. But some landlords go the extra step of not just letting tenants keep pets in their apartments but providing an amenity that aims to make apartment living with a pet that much more enjoyable and inviting.
For example, the new Alexan Midtown apartment complex in Sacramento, California offers tenants a large Astroturf "bark park." Such an area is great both for dogs and tenants alike to get to know each other. Plus, the park even includes a convenient below-floor drainage system for when dogs have to relieve themselves, according to a report from The Sacramento Bee.
Does your apartment building offer special amenities for pet-owning tenants? Does your landlord allow pets at all? How important is a pet-friendly building to you in an apartment search?
