There are many valid reasons why you might want to move out of your apartment earlier than you've planned. If you're living in your rental on a month-to-month basis, you shouldn't have much to worry about. But if you've committed to living in your apartment for a year or two under a lease, you may feel stuck.

Don't! It's quite common for tenants to break their lease, and many people find it's worth it even if they have to pay a penalty for doing so.

If you're considering breaking your lease, first find out which situations may require you to pay a penalty to your landlord. This way, you'll know what to expect before you take any action.
