What It Offers:
is a government-run service aimed at "linking people who need housing with the housing they need."
Where It Covers:
The listings span the entire state of Maine, organized by county.
What Features It Offers:
MaineHousingSearch.org offers extensive apartment search capabilities, with listings offering maps and photos. With an "advanced search," you can exclude properties that currently have waiting lists, specify how much of a security deposit you're willing to pay, and that you want apartments that allow pets, have covered parking, and don't require credit checks, for example.
An accessible search offers options relating to an apartment's entry and doors, kitchen, bathroom, and items such as whether the property is sign-language friendly or located within a paratransit route.
What It Costs:
All features of MaineHousingSearch.org are offered at no charge.
How to Get Help:
If you encounter difficulties or just need help using MaineHousingSearch.org, representatives are available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Call toll-free at 1-877-428-8844. Or, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Who Runs the Site:
MaineHousingSearch.org is funded by MaineHousing and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services with support from the Robert Wood Johnson "Taking Health Care Home grant" (Corporation for Supportive Housing) and the Systems Transformation grant (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services). The site was developed by Socialserve.com, a national not-for-profit provider of housing locator services.
