If you're renting or looking for an apartment in Texas, be aware that both the Fair Housing Act (FHA), a federal law, and Texas state law protects tenants and prospective tenants alike from illegal housing discrimination.
Under the FHA and Texas law, apartment dwellers in all parts of Texas have the right to enjoy their housing without facing discrimination based on these protected classes:

- national origin
- sex
- disability
- familial status.
Texas' fair housing law doesn't include any additional protected classes.
